Beginning...

Cate Mburu was raised in a small village in Kenya. With the help of a sponsorship, she was able to attend high school in a town two hours from her village. When she graduated, she met her future husband which subsequently led to a journey to the U.S. …Minnesota to be   exact.

Upon acclimating to the American culture, Cate saw that persons with disabilities in this country were treated very differently than those she knew in Kenya. She decided that she would do anything she could to affect change in the lives of those living in villages familiar to her in Kenya.

Cate Hope has been helping children in Kenya since 2010. Initially, Cate and her husband would provide needs as best as they were able with the help of a few friends. Initially, she shipped donated wheelchairs to Kenyan recipients. Currently, Cate's Hope has developed several partnerships with world-wide organizations which provide custom wheelchairs. Bethany Kids, one of the partners,  provides fitting and education for a nominal fee. Cate sponsored events where the children and their families could be out and about and experience fun and companionship. She pulled together a crew of 40+ Kenyan volunteers who serve the families regularly.  Cate's Hope officially registered as 501 (C)(3) in 2018 and is now serving 257 children with 243 on a waiting list.
